Removable Appliances
Devices that replace multiple or all of the patients missing teeth are sometimes fabricated as removable appliances that allow the patient to function as if they had all of their natural dentition. This option allows the flexibility to remove the prosthesis in order to clean and repair it as needed with ease. Dentures, which traditionally replace all of the missing teeth, can be retained using the existing bone and tissue contours of the patient. Implants can also be used to firmly anchor the removable prostheses in their proper place.
Conventionally removable appliances are fabricated from acrylic, metal, plastic, porcelain or a combination thereof. These prostheses must be properly cared for by the patient and over time require maintenance and relines at our office to ensure proper fit and function.
